About

When she was five years old, Susan Metcalfe Honneus fell in love with horses when her mother read her the novel, Black Beauty. Dreaming of having a horse of her very own when she was twelve years old, her grandfathers conspired to make her dream come true. Ginger was a gentle Morgan, a wonderful companion for a young girl. Since then, Susan has had many horses in her care. She loved them all - their inquisitive personalities, as well as their mischievous traits.

Concerned about the plight of the wild horses on our public lands, she has written and illustrated a book, Into the Wind, A Mustang’s Story about a wild horse.

She is an active member in the American Wild Horse Campaign, Return to Freedom Wild Horse Conservation, and the Guild of Berkshire Artists. She lives with her husband, David, on a farm in Western Massachusetts.
